Hellenic Heads: Legacy and Renewal

Hellenic Heads sculptures in the courtyard of San Giorgio dei Greci, Venice
Hellenic Heads · Venice · 2024

History through the human face

The series moves through ancient Greece and Byzantium, the Asia Minor Catastrophe, the Nazi occupation of the 1940s, and modern Greece. Its portraits draw on the artist’s family while considering how history passes between generations.

The exhibition began at the Embassy of Greece in Washington, DC, in May 2022. In 2024, it was presented in the courtyard of San Giorgio dei Greci in Venice, in parallel with Biennale Arte 2024.

The figures bring together modeling by hand and contemporary fabrication. Seen together, they form a sequence of individual faces and a larger account of inheritance and renewal.

Eight cities, 2022–2026

Eight stops over five years. The tour’s final venue, Berlin, opened at the Embassy of Greece on 9 September 2026.
